God and Government

The Constitution, The Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise clause pretty much cover all issues to do with religion. (They fall short when it comes to no religion). But, what about God in general? What about leaving God out of it all together? The idea of God and the use of the word is so entwined in our government, its documents, it’s oaths of loyalty and our money that it goes beyond infringing a belief in God on all people.

Oath of citizenship;

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform non-combatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God

In God We Trust is on our money.

The Pledge of allegiance;

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The Declaration of Independence;

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

These are just prime examples. Before any argument for the allowance of omitting So Help Me God from the citizenship oath or any other allowance to omit the word God let me state this, just because one may be ‘allowed’ to not say it, it is still there in writing.

America and it’s ‘clauses’, ‘amendments’, and ‘omitting’ is still a Christian Nation. Period.
