History Forgot, Left To Rot

I love urban exploration. I would spend my days walking among the abandoned if I could. But my life, all be it a happy and full filled one leaves me living this dream vicariously through my favorite urbex guys. (Links below).

Most videos leave me asking that forever unanswered question “how is this place abandoned?” That question excites me and peaks my interest as I look at mansion after mansion, house after house be they empty shells with no visible clues to tell you why it is being demolished, why intimate memories and belonging were just left as if they never mattered or simply why no one lives there or why anyone else won’t ever live there again.

But then I ask that forever unasked question “why is this place still abandoned?” or the even more bothersome question “why is no one preserving the history there, leaving books; art; antiques and precious artifacts to rot or be smashed and vandalized?”

I respect and understand the ethical code of explorers and their creed ‘leave nothing behind but footprints, and take nothing but pictures’. I am aware that taking anything even if it was to preserve it would be committing a crime worse than the trespassing they committed just by being there in the first place, but, shouldn’t someone contact a museum, a historical society or library so these very precious things can be preserved, shared and appreciated by all? Or for that matter why not contact places like Habitats for Humanities for the washers, driers, fridges, household items or furniture left behind as well?

Someone besides explorers has to know about these places and the items left behind in them.

Someone, somewhere surely could do something.

For great explores check these guys out.

Freaktography

This guy is my favorite. I love the way he shoots his videos, the way he orients me as to where he is and how he got there, how he shoots the views from the windows and he shoots the best places. A lot of time capsules but also a lot of empty places with beautiful architecture and cool floor plans. He usually takes his time without spending too much time on dumb uninteresting things, focuses on the interesting stuff. He shoots every room instead of deciding for me what is interesting to see. He also recaps and closes with lots of great photos. Love it.

Riddim Ryder

Abandoned World Explorer

Likable guys, awesome places all over Europe. Good video and history.

Urbex Indigo

Does a lot of history and knows a lot about architectural styles. Mostly does places set to be demolished.

Takiany

Sweet guy with a cool girlfriend. Kinda funny and finds great explores. Doesn’t shoot every room but his video is good.

Carlo Paolozza

Great guy, great explores. Shoots every room. Sometimes messes with Ethan instead of the explore but he is forgivable cuz he is an okay guy. He is one of the gang along with Riddim Ryder, Freaktography and others.

Steve Ronin

Excellent photos and great video. Lots of history when available and he travels extensively.
