Movies That Should Not Be Available or Legal

I will start this with a movie I watched a couple of days ago. My 16 year old daughter wanted me to watch a movie with her that she had watched the night before on Netflix. (I guess I should say here that I trust my daughter to set her own boundries or comfort levels when it comes to movies).  She said she wanted me to see it because it not only made her cry, scared her, and also disturbed her. She also said that even though she understood why I am always on her about being careful on the internet and why I don’t let her walk or take the bus places on her own, this movie really made her ‘get it’.

We went to Netflix and watched Meagan Is Missing. I believe it was rated R. It supposedly was not only based on a true story but the video footage was supposed to be real.  I right away felt it was inappropriate because the main characters were 14 and 15 years old and the videos of the girls showed them giving oral sex and talking about having sex. One of the characters ends up being abducted allegedly by a guy she met on a chat line. A few minutes later a screen stating that the following photographs were taken from an internet fetish sight and were unedited and of the girl abducted. It showed this 15 year old girl on her knees under a table with her head through a hole in the table and some kinds of apparatuses on her mouth and she was in her underwear and had been beaten.  Then this girls best friend who was 14 was taken by the same guy. A screen stating that the next 22 minutes were from her video camera found by the police and the video we were about to see was unedited and uncut. The video showed a man opening a door to a small cell like room where the girl in her bra and panties was chained to a wall by a metal collar around her neck. She was mad to eat out of a bowl like a dog. The she was taken into a room with the same table seen in the photos of the other girl where she was bent over and raped. What the viewer sees is her from the torso up with the mans arm and hand holding her head to the table. She was crying , screaming and obviously being raped.

It was here that I turned the movie off.

In the movie The Last House on The Left there is a scene where a 15 year old girl is raped. Her legs are held open by one man while a woman and a boy watch another man rape her. This scene is very graphic and about 5 minutes long.

Where do I start. With the fact that these movies show underage girls being raped?

With the fact that one movie is torture porn and the other is snuff porn?

How is it that these movies are rated R? How is it that these movies are even legal?

Especially Meagan Is Missing. If this is real footage….. I don’t even know what to say. Yes I do, HELL NO. This is snuff porn with underage girls who supposedly are really dead from these violent sex acts. How? Why?

Who is responsible? The movie raters? The movie theaters? Netflix? Anybody?

  17. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you’ve done a very good job with this. In addition, the blog loads very quick for me on Safari. Excellent Blog!

  25. That is not real footage. This is a quote from the director: “The script is entirely based on real occurrences. I chose seven cases to cull details from; five of the cases dealt with abducted and murdered children, and two dealt specifically with internet predators. There is not a single incident in the film that I made up entirely out of thin air”.
Megan and Amy were fictional characters depicting a compilation of seven real cases.
I wasn’t familiar with these movies or the case, I googled a bit about them.
If it were actually real footage I understand your commotion and even share it. They are not, so they’re a product of fiction thus their legality should never be put into question.
As to its rating, maybe it should be X instead of R, but maybe they wouldn’t have the admonitory effect on teenagers that it could have this way.

    • I appreciate your info. Thanks for the quote. I was thinking that it was a Blair Witch Project type movie but….my daughter believes it was real. I do have mixed feelings given this info. On one hand I am glad it scared the shit out of my daughter. But….even if it isn’t real footage it is still border line snuff porn. It is still torture porn with ‘minors’. Thanks for the comment.
