Nietzsche and The Nazi’s

A Personal View by Stephen Hicks, Ph.D.

DVD, Ockham’s Razor Publishing, 2006

Stephen Hicks is a professor of philosophy at Rockford College,Illinois.

This documentary looks like his philosophy students filmed it. Never the less is an interesting viewing. It is a ball buster, 2 hours and 45 minutes long. It is just Hicks talking to the camera with occasional photos a film footage. At times I drifted and had to watch it a couple of times to absorb it all.

It definitely offers a unique perspective of the history behind Hitler‘s socialistic interpretation of the Philosopher  Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spake Zarathustra. He examines every phase of Hitler’s rise to the Fall of the Third Reich. He explains socialistic ideology and Catholic doctrine while defining Nietzsche’s existentialism interesting to viewers well versed in  philosophy and understandable for those in philosophy 101. I watched this with my teenage daughter and she walked away with new knowledge.

 It gets 5 stars.

Available on Netflix.
